Thanks so much for sending me a Tweet. The reason I’ve sent you here is because you’ve asked a question that I get asked a lot and this is much faster than having to write my answer over and over again. So please don’t worry that you have asked that sort of a question, I really don’t mind at all, cause I did exactly the same! When I started to Tweet it just felt like I’d started going back to school and learn to spell and write…
Now if you are already a Twitter veteran or even part of the Twitter Elite and are sure about what you’re doing, then you’ll know exactly my reasons for this page. Anyways, just scroll down until you see something that might answer your question.
Getting started with Twitter
Twitter is a fantastic social network, and people are usually more than happy to help. But as with most communities there are some who don’t want to be bothered, are too busy or who keep themselves to themselves. If you encounter that, just be polite and move on! The whole thing works around you following those who interest you, and being followed by those interested in what you have to say.
You are limited in how much you say at any one time by the 140 character limit. When you type, you will see the counter above the little box count down, when it goes red you have written too much, anything written after the counter goes redwon’t be seen. So you could write the most beautiful words, but only the first 140 characters will ever be seen! As you get more used to tweeting you will maybe get a kick by saying exactly what you want to say in exactly 140 characters! Think I’m crazy? You’d better take care, the whole thing can be highly addictive….
Who to Follow?
You can follow whoever you like and sometimes complete strangers will start following you if they like what you tweet about , or you share a common interest. In the beginning it can be very quiet! So you’ll need to search out tweople (people) you find interesting, do that by clicking ‘Find People’ in the top right hand corner of your profile page.
As good way of getting started to follow tweople in our niche check out my Top 10 Must Follow Twitter List For Aspiring Social Internet Marketers here. Following these guys will give you the core foundation for internet tech and social media marketing knowledge headed toward the future.
Now, one more thing to mention: It’s not about numbers! I now have lots of people following me, but when I started, it was just a few. But it was just as much fun to find new people in the early beginning.
So if you are looking for something whether it’s a person or people of similar interests go to http://search.twitter.com it should point you in the right direction. More interesting sites to play with http://www.twitterlocal.net/ or http://twitterholic.com/ are good directories.
To Your Success,
