Google Buzz and ShareThis
Google recently launched the official Google Buzz button for their social networking and messaging service. This button provides users with a more direct way to post content to Google Buzz. For example, instead of copying and pasting a link to a page a user wants to share , they can just click the Google Buzz share button. ShareThis is excited to report that they are one of the first social media sharing services to participate with Google on their Buzz button. ShareThis will be incorporating the Buzz button on their ShareThis widget immediately. So now the social search users with Google Buzz accounts who find something online that they want their friends to know about can share content directly to Google Buzz from the ShareThis widget on any of our more than 135,000 publisher sites, or the Share toolbar.
Google Buzz is Google’s entry to participate in social shared media. Any Gmail user can employ Buzz to share links, updates, photos, and other media . If they have a Twitter account, they can import their Tweets to Buzz. If they are bloggers, they can import blog posts to Buzz. If they share pages in Google Reader, users can choose to have those also show up on Buzz. The shared content they put on Buzz will be seen by their friends on Gmail who have chosen to follow them on Buzz, as well as on their Google Profile if they like. Their friends on Buzz are able to comment on any of the content they post, starting a conversation about shared media, or they can share it themselves on their own Google Buzz.
The team of developers at ShareThis is pleased to be able to offer their users yet another channel to utilize for sharing content. Sharing pages and other information online comes down to personal preference and everyone likes to do it differently. ShareThis is committed to making social sharing happen easily and quickly. With Google Buzz growing rapidly as one of the ways to share information online, ShareThis is excited to help offer an even broader scope for sharing.
Google Buzz reinforces the vital importance of sharing content, and how it’s changing the way people communicate online. When Google launched Buzz a few months ago, the ShareThis team of developers was excited to see Google join in the conversation addressing the rise of sharing as the central act of the social Web. Now, by offering social search users more entry points with Google Buzz, Google is making it easier for everyone to share content the way they want to.
The team at ShareThis looks forward to seeing where Google Buzz goes next. Google doesn’t release figures on how many users have Gmail accounts, but most reports put the number well over 100 million users right now. That is a huge potential pool for a sharing platform to draw on. As the social Web becomes busier, with ever greater amounts of content and recommendations, the team at ShareThis is thrilled to help users find the best and most perfect ways to share online.
